History of Ten Index

The idea behind Ten Index began with a simple need: to find files faster across multiple computers and drives. Jason Hoblin noticed that backing up data wasnโ€™t enoughโ€”he needed a consistent way to understand where things were stored and how to retrieve them efficiently.

Starting with the concept of 10 sections and 10 categories per section, he developed a basic hierarchy to apply across systems. Over time, this evolved into a refined structure he called โ€œHoblinโ€™s Hierarchy.โ€ It was used quietly across his directories and projects for yearsโ€”revisited and improved with real-world use.

In 2017, the project was given new life when Jason acquired TenIndex.com, formalized the system under the name TI100, and made it available to the public under a Creative Commons license.
